What is War Story?

War story began as an idea for a film project, in one of the few art classes where film production is studied. It began with my observing a number of friends in the organization on campus, Students for a Democratic Society. I've always had a sympathy for the anti-war movement, especially since the recent war was clearly being drawn out and no longer serving its original purpose. The movie was made in the last year fo Bush's term, when the very activisits depicted here would usher in a change from one perspective on the world to the next. But the same issues are likely to be dogging them as Afghanistan becomes the next Iraq. This movie tries to pose some of those questions -- what are we fighting for? We, as activists, or we as people? Love, revenge? Peace?

I found a talented volunteer cast who were willing to throw some time into a first effort into the art of filmmaking. Considering the length and scope of the script I had come up with, I had no idea it would take as long as it did. The final release has been delayed again and again due to the lack of a soundtrack, but hopefully after graduation that will no longer be an issue.
